Just over a month ago, Gigabyte launched a pair of white motherboards for Intel CPUs and now the company has quietly released a pair of white models for AMD CPUs. The two models are the B650 AORUS Elite AX Ice and the B650M AORUS Elite AX Ice, the main difference being the form factor, as the latter is a microATX board. Besides the white PCB, all of the heatsinks are silver/white in colour, although all the connectors on the boards are black, just as with the Intel boards. The rear I/O shield has also been given the white treatment to better fit into a white case.

However, the Ice boards are not identical in terms of specs to their older siblings, as Gigabyte has done a few minor changes that aren't noticeable at first look. Gigabyte has shifted away from using MTK/AMD and Intel WiFi cards and is now using the Realtek RTL8852CE on these new boards. We should mention that Gigabyte are using the RTL8852CE on later revisions of the black versions as well. It's currently unknown when these new boards will be available and how much they'll retail for.

Realizing the full potential of next-generation deep learning requires highly efficient AI infrastructure. For a computing platform to be scalable and cost efficient, optimizing every layer of the AI stack, from algorithms to hardware, is essential. Advances in narrow-precision AI data formats and associated optimized algorithms have been pivotal to this journey, allowing the industry to transition from traditional 32-bit floating point precision to presently only 8 bits of precision (i.e. OCP FP8).

Narrower formats allow silicon to execute more efficient AI calculations per clock cycle, which accelerates model training and inference times. AI models take up less space, which means they require fewer data fetches from memory, and can run with better performance and efficiency. Additionally, fewer bit transfers reduces data movement over the interconnect, which can enhance application performance or cut network costs.

The drawn out merger talks between Kioxia and Western Digital's memory and NAND flash manufacturing businesses appears to have hit an unexpected bump on the road, in the shape of SK Hynix according to the Nikkei. As it happens, SK Hynix holds an indirect stake in Kioxia and as such, they need to approve the merger for it to be able to happen. Today, SK Hynix is the second biggest manufacturer of NAND flash, somewhat behind Samsung, but if the Kioxia WD merger were to take place, SK Hynix would be pushed into a third place in the market, which wouldn't benefit the company.

As such, SK Hynix is trying to push for a rather odd option for Kioxia, where SK Hynix wants Japanese SoftBank—who owns among other things, Arm—to step in as a partner with Kioxia. However, what SK Hynix seems to have forgotten is that WD's memory chips are made in the same fab as Kioxia's and it's highly unlikely that WD would be keen on seeing this last minute proposal by SK Hynix play out. The Kioxia WD merger would result in a new company where Kioxia would own 63 percent and WD 37 percent, based on current assets. However, WD is meant to add further capital to the merger, so it can get a 50.1 percent stake in the final company for its shareholders, with Kioxia ending up with 49.9 percent.

Today ASML Holding NV (ASML) has published its 2023 third-quarter results.

CEO statement and outlook

"Our third-quarter net sales came in at €6.7 billion, around the midpoint of our guidance, with a gross margin of 51.9%, higher than guided, primarily driven by the DUV product mix and some one-off costs effects. "The semiconductor industry is currently working through the bottom of the cycle and our customers expect the inflection point to be visible by the end of this year. Customers continue to be uncertain about the shape of the demand recovery in the industry. We therefore expect 2024 to be a transition year. Based on our current perspective, we take a more conservative view and expect a revenue number similar to 2023. But we also look at 2024 as an important year to prepare for significant growth that we expect for 2025.

NVIDIA is rumored to be working on a refresh of the higher end of its GeForce RTX 40-series "Ada" series, according to hongxing2020, a reliable source with NVIDIA leaks. The company could be bringing back the SUPER brand extension that it introduced with the RTX 20-series. As many as three SKUs are on the radar—GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER, GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER, and the GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER.

There is no word on when the company plans to release these, or what their specifications are, but we can certainly speculate. The current RTX 4080, while based on the AD103 silicon, doesn't max it out—it uses 76 out of 80 SM (streaming multiprocessors) available on the silicon, but we doubt if those extra 4 SM could drive up enough performance to make a whole new SKU, especially given that the 256-bit memory bus of the AD103 is maxed out. We predict that the RTX 4080 SUPER could be based on the larger AD102 silicon that physically has 144 SM that the current RTX 4090 uses 128 out of. NVIDIA has the opportunity to pick an SM count such as, say, 96. AD102 also has a wider 384-bit memory bus, giving NVIDIA the option of either giving the RTX 4080 SUPER the same 24 GB memory configuration as the RTX 4090, or even 20 GB, across a 320-bit memory bus.

Today, the US authorities published the updated version of the advanced computing and semiconductor manufacturing equipment rule, imposing additional restrictions on export of advanced chip manufacturing technology. These regulations will become effective after a period of 30 days. Given the length and complexity of the regulations, ASML will need to carefully assess any potential implications. However, as to our business, from the information we received, it is our understanding that the new regulations will be applicable to a limited number of fabs in China related to advanced semiconductor manufacturing.

These export control measures will likely have an impact on the regional split of our systems sales in the medium to long term. However, we do not expect these measures to have a material impact on our financial outlook for 2023 and for our longer-term scenarios for 2025 and 2030, as communicated during our Investor Day in November 2022. ASML will seek further clarification from the US authorities on the scope of these new regulations. ASML is fully committed to comply with all applicable laws and regulations including export control legislation in the countries in which we operate.

AMD has released the latest version of AMD Software Adrenalin drivers, version 23.10.2 Beta, that are pretty much identical to the previously available AMD Software Adrenalin drivers, version 23.10.1 WHQL, except for the AMD Anti-Lag+ support. As you probably know, AMD's Anti-Lag+ feature has been triggering Valve's Anti-Cheat (VAC) system in Counter Strike 2, which resulted in ban for some gamers. The issues have been spotted in several other games, and AMD has decided to disable the Anti-Lag+ in all supported games and recommend gamers to use the new driver.

AMD was also keen to note that it is working with game developers to re-instate gamers that were banned due to Anti-Lag+, and promised more information when available. As it was the case with the previous release, the new AMD Software Adrenalin drivers, version 23.10.2 Beta also adds optimizations for Assassin's Creed Mirage, Lords of the Fallen, and Forza Motorsport games. It fixes several issues in Starfield, Counter Strike 2 and EA FC 23, as well as some other bugs and issues.

Paradox Interactive (Paradox) and Harebrained Schemes (HBS)—developers of the Shadowrun trilogy, BATTLETECH and The Lamplighters League—have decided to part ways on 1 January 2024. The separation is the result of a mutual agreement, stemming from each party's strategic and creative priorities. Paradox will retain ownership of The Lamplighters League and other games developed by the studio. HBS will seek new publishing, partnership, and investment opportunities.

"Paradox has refocused its strategy towards its core niches within strategy and management games with endless qualities," said Charlotta Nilsson, COO of Paradox. "We and HBS' leadership have been discussing what would happen after the release of The Lamplighters League, but a new project or sequel in the same genre was not in line with our portfolio plans. Hence, we believe that a separation would be the best way forward. We're very happy that this talented, gifted studio has the chance to continue and can't wait to see what they will make next."

Carve out a sturdy kingdom in the shadow of the Caucasus Mountains and use the rugged terrain to your advantage as you repulse countless foreign invasions. The Georgian unique unit is the Monaspa, a brawny cavalry unit whose strength increases in numbers. During the early medieval period, the regions south of the Caucasus Mountains were divided among numerous petty kingdoms that eluded foreign dominance largely through geographical isolation. Although the Byzantine Empire occasionally attempted to extend its influence into these polities, no significant lasting gains were made. However, the constant threat of foreign invasion catalyzed a gradual shift towards unity. In the early 11th century, Bagrat III finally succeeded in gathering these formerly squabbling states into the Kingdom of Georgia.

Gaming allows us to experience worlds beyond imagination, share our stories and forge friendships with people across the world. There have been several rumours about AMD's upcoming RX 6750 GRE graphics cards, which may or maybe not be limited to the Chinese market. Details have now appeared of not one, but two different RX 6750 GRE SKUs, courtesy of @momomo_us on Twitter/X and it seems like AMD has simply re-branded the RX 6700 XT and RX 6700, adjusted the clock speed minimally and slapped a new cooler on the cards. To call this disappointing would be an understatement, but then again, these cards weren't expected to bring anything new to the table.

The fact that AMD is calling the cards the RX 6750 GRE 10 GB and RX 6750 GRE 12 GB will help confuse consumers as well, especially when you consider the two cards were clearly different SKUs when they launched as the RX 6700 and RX 6700 XT. Now it just looks like one has las VRAM than the other, when in fact it also has a different GPU. At least the pricing difference between the two SKUs is minimal, with the 10 GB model having an MSRP of US$269 and the 12 GB model coming in at a mere $20 more, at US$289. The RX 6700 XT had a launch price of US$479 and still retails for over US$300, which at least makes these refreshed products somewhat more wallet friendly.

A HIGH-PERFORMANCE GAMING MOUSE, YEARS IN THE MAKING

When we first released the original Model O back in 2019, it took the gaming community by storm. We designed it with direct feedback from gamers worldwide, and we were thrilled with the overwhelmingly positive response it received. Fast-forward a few years later, we hosted a limited edition group buy, featuring an enhanced version of this device: Model O PRO Forge Edition. It was a stripped down version of the original mouse, sporting only the necessary cutting-edge tech for optimal performance at the lightest weight possible. Though we will no longer be hosting group buys, we decided to take this optimized mouse, turbocharge it with next-generation technology (more on this later), and make it one of our mainline products.

NVIDIA today announced an update to RTX Video Super Resolution (VSR) that delivers greater overall graphical fidelity with preserved details, upscaling for native videos and support for GeForce RTX 20 Series desktop and laptop GPUs. For AI assists from RTX VSR and more - from enhanced creativity and productivity to blisteringly fast gaming - check out the RTX for AI page.

The Super RTX VSR Update 1.5

RTX VSR's AI model has been retrained to more accurately identify the difference between subtle details and compression artifacts to better preserve image details during the upscaling process. Finer details are more visible, and the overall image looks sharper and crisper than before. RTX VSR version 1.5 will also de-artifact videos played at their native resolution - prior, only upscaled video could be enhanced. Providing a leap in graphical fidelity for laptop owners with 1080p screens, the updated RTX VSR makes 1080p resolution, which is popular for content and displays, look smoother at its native resolution, even with heavy artifacts. Harnessing the winds, the MX600 RGB's perfect storm of cooling features completely neutralizes the threat of overheating. Fully ventilated on all visible sides, this chassis channels omnidirectional air currents, minimizing running temperatures: the perforations are square instead of circular to ensure maximum airflow, the surface area of a square being greater than a circle with an equivalent diameter. To counteract the increased exposure to particles, the MX600 RGB is shielded against dust - the enemy of all PCs - with five strategically placed filters, extending the longevity of your components. Two integrated angular structures - one at the foot of the front panel and another to its side - guides airflow with finesse and precisely targets cooling at your GPU and CPU.

Moreover, the power unit cabin boasts a height of 110 mm, enhanced by a fully vented side cover that facilitates optimal air intake: this increased headroom allows for improved clearance and promotes efficient air circulation. The MX600 RGB is preinstalled with a 120 mm rear panel fan and 3x 140 mm PWM front panel fans. Equipped with a fan bracket on the power unit cabin for two fans, and the option to add three additional fans to the top panel, the MX600 RGB offers a maximum total capacity of nine fans. This impressive configuration maxes out cooling power, making being burned out of your game a thing of the past.

Intel and Submer, a company specializing in immersion cooling, are set to unveil a creative immersion cooling system at the OCP Global Summit. This system can efficiently dissipate 1,000 W of power in a single-phase liquid cooling setup designed for deployment in data centers. Unlike traditional water cooling, immersion cooling systems offer higher efficiency and reliability. The solution developed by Submer and Intel is based on a Forced Convection Heat Sink (FCHS) and leverages a heat exchanger for heat transfer with a second liquid. The primary advantage of immersion cooling is its lack of active components on the cooling element, making it possible for immersed systems to operate without them for extended periods.

In this new system, a copper cooler is housed with two fans at one end to enhance liquid flow through the heat sink using forced convection. However, this active cooling component contradicts the traditional passive concept of immersion cooling based on natural convection. In its initial phase, Submer and Intel utilized Xeon processors with an 800 W TDP, with plans to increase that figure to 1,000 W in the next step. This Forced Convection Heat Sink (FCHS) offers the advantages of easy manufacturing and cost-effective usage while effectively dissipating up to 1,000 W of waste heat, making it a compelling option for immersion cooling. There are even possibilities of being 3D printed, according to Submer, and the plan is to achieve cooling of 1kW+ chip. We expect to hear more about the system during the OCP Global Summit, running from October 17 to 19, as currently, we only have a lower-resolution image from Submer's press release.

Intel's upcoming Meteor Lake processor family will see the light of the day in mobile version only, with a big re-brand of the Intel Core i naming structure. Slated for a December 14th launch, we are eager to see the official performance figures. However, we are in for a treat today as we have some early performance figures thanks to Geekbench. According to the GB5 run found by BenchLeaks, Intel's Core Ultra 9 185H CPU has appeared to show its configuration, early performance, and boost frequency that is reaching beyond the 5.0 GHz mark.

As the GB5 run suggests, Core Ultra 9 185H is a 16-core CPU with 22 threads, running at 2.5 GHz base frequency. There are six P-cores, eight E-cores, and two SoC-cores on the package of this SKU. During boost, the CPU can reach up to 5.1 GHz and was paired with 64 GB of DDR5 memory. Interestingly, the CPU scored 1849 points in single-threaded tests and 9832 points in multi-threaded tests, which currently doesn't beat top-end Intel mobile HX SKU like i9-13980HX. However, we estimate this was an early engineering sample, and the final product will be more performant.

So we're releasing the PC version of Wizard With a Gun TODAY, a day early. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions will still be launching on Oct. 17 (sorry), but if you're a PC player, you'll be able to lock and load sooner than planned for the magically low price of $24.99. Set in a fractured post-apocalyptic world known as the Shatter, Wizard With a Gun sees you (and a friend if you don't want to face the horrors alone) crafting an arsenal of magical guns 'n' ammo to drive back the forces of Chaos and restore this realm to its former glory.

When GALAX began its operations in China in 2003, the company broke into the market and established itself as one of the best GPU AIBs out there. Now, the company is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a special-edition graphics card to mark its two-decade run. We have previously reported that the company is planning to show more of the special-edition card; however, all we managed to get was a teaser of the GPU. Today, thanks to the X/Twitter user CornerJack we manage to see the new GPU in person and its uniquely positioned 12VHPWR power connector.

In the images below, we see that GALAX decided to work around the problem of bad cable management by introducing a more stealthy approach. The 16-pin 12VHPWR connector is now hidden inside of a GPU in an interesting place. The connector is placed in line with the GPU, next to the PCIe connector, to prevent cable bending, which is proven infamously dangerous. In regards to the special-edition features, we expect the card to be a great performer and certainly a star of the show of any PC build due to its white aesthetics.

According to the latest NVIDIA knowledge base FAQ, the pricing structure of NVIDIA's GeForce NOW game streaming service is increasing. Applicable only to Canada and Europe, the price increases due to "increased operational costs in those areas," as NVIDIA notes. The customers paying in CAD, GBP, EUR, SEK, NOK, DKK, CZK, and PLN will experience a roughly 10-20% price increase of around one to two Euros, based on the GeForce NOW subscription level. However, there is a good chance to secure better prices for the following months, as active and new members who sign up for GeForce NOW before November 1st can lock in their memberships at the current pricing for six months before experiencing an increase.

The company notes that this also impacts membership gift card pricing adjustment, with gift cards purchased before November 1st honoring the old pricing and newly minted gift cards after November 1st getting a price increase. This change occurs across all subscription tiers, including the Priority tier for 1080p gaming at 60 FPS, the Ultimate tier for 4K experience at 120 FPS, and the Founders Ultimate tier, which increases gameplay duration from six to eight hours. You can see the updated pricing structure in the table below.

GIGABYTE Technology, Giga Computing, a subsidiary of GIGABYTE and an industry leader in high-performance servers, server motherboards, and workstations, today announced four new GIGABYTE R-series servers for AmpereOne Family of processors for cloud-native computing where high compute density per rack and power-efficiency matter.

For cloud-native computing, hyperscalers or cloud service providers (CSPs) rely on predictable high-performance, scalable infrastructure, and power efficient nodes. GIGABYTE servers running the AmpereOne Family platform achieve those expectations, but this is not the first time GIGABYTE has worked with Ampere Computing. The partnership first started in 2020 with the launch of the Ampere Altra platform. And this new family of AmpereOne processors will not supersede the Altra platform, rather it is an extension of what Arm architecture is capable of by Ampere Computing. For instance, the CPU core count goes beyond 128 cores in Altra to 136-192 cores in AmpereOne for new levels of performance and VM density. On top of that, the private L2 cache per core has doubled and there is support for DDR5 memory and PCIe Gen 5.

Lords of the Fallen only launched yesterday, and it has been plagued by various performance and stability issues, but luckily, Hexworks has already launched the new Patch 1.1.191, which should fix some of those issues. Unfortunately, the new patch also disables the NVIDIA DLSS 3 Frame Generation in order to "prevent the crashes that some players are experiencing with their brand-new 40 series GPUs." Hexworks added that they are working with NVIDIA to deliver more stable drivers that should fix the issue.

In addition to DLSS 3 Frame Generation problems, the new patch will also check for outdated drivers at launch. It also fixes an engine error that was happening on certain NVIDIA RTX 30 and 40 series GPUs, causing the game to crash, as well as the crash after the first cinematic during shader compile. The new patch also brings some other performance, balancing, bosses, PvP, visuals, audio, and other fixes.

Update Oct 15th: Hexworks has just released yet another Patch, version 1.1.193, which brings a couple of updates, including fixes for various crashes, a workaround to the POS Calculation Crash, as well as an option to manually activate DLSS Frame Generation. You can find the full release notes for Patch 1.1.193 below.
